For inkjet machines using reel materials, it is obvious that water-based inks are very suitable for printing fewer documents, while solvent inks are dominant for printing more and large format, and oil inks are relatively less used. Everyone thought that the same might be true of platform inkjet machines -- but in fact, they were wrong

in inkjet painting, ink formulation designers and manufacturers often disagree on the treatment of nozzle maintenance (slow drying) and medium winding (fast drying) during inkjet painting. Water based inks dry very slowly. Ink manufacturers often add some wetting agents such as glycerin or ethylene glycol to delay the drying speed and prevent the ink from blocking the nozzle. Therefore, this kind of ink can only obtain high-precision products by using high-quality mixed inkjet media. These products are not very cheap for manufacturers, because even from the surface, they are not simple paper, but multi-layer composite. For inkjet machines using oil-based inks, the medium requirements are very high, because the oil will not evaporate, and the medium must be able to absorb all the oil components

we often use solvent inks for self-adhesive banners, perforated cloth and pressure sensitive paper. These media do not have a base to absorb the ink solvent. Fortunately, many solvent systems are especially suitable for adhesive materials. Adhesive polymers can absorb some solvents. Good nozzle maintenance often requires that there is at least a small amount of volatile matter in the components of the ink, so that it is not easy to dry. In general, many high productivity solvent printers will try to use less professional media with more expensive background colors or precoating materials. Printer manufacturers often focus on setting preheating roller, post heating roller, roller or drying device

to sum up, the collected pulse signals are shaped and filtered during the actual operation of most inkjet machines using reel materials today. We rely on the characteristics of special media to absorb all residual liquids, or preheat or post heat media. These methods are useless once painting on non absorbable hard materials. The introduction of waterless plates and UV curable inks in offset printing enables offset printing to compete with silk printing and even flexo printing when printing plastic substrates. In contrast, the use of UV curable ink in inkjet painting is relatively late, but it is already in use today

Another reason for the breakthrough of UV curing technology in the inkjet industry is driven by the commercial market. Ink companies of global scale, such as DIC Sun Chemical ink or flint ink, have corresponding products in the inkjet industry. Seric01, the world's largest silk ink company, and other major suppliers provide a set of very good management requirements and continuous improvement platform manufacturers, such as avecia and toy4, overload with software, over displacement protection, mechanical forced safety limit protection and other measures; o. 3M and other companies have their own channels and resources and are also involved in this field

it is these companies that believe that UV curing inks will be applied in the field of desktop inkjet machines, but will not replace water-based, solvent-based and oil-based inks. After all, many hard substrates and media are absorbable materials, so it is not necessary to use UV curing ink, especially in a certain field such as packaging and printing

however, many companies that want to paint on absorbent materials also want to paint on non absorbent materials, such as hard vinyl, composite polymerized ethylene, foam PVC or acrylic. Usually these substrates are expensive, so silk printing is limited in some special live parts or short version live parts, and the area of platform inkjet printing is much larger than that of silk printing. For larger quantities of live parts and cheaper absorbent media, silk printing may keep its traditional market

the research also shows that most large format inkjet machines and process end users want to be able to print various materials flexibly. Those machines that can only paint on absorbent hard materials are not very attractive

UV curable inks now account for less than 1% of the global inkjet ink market. According to the survey, the proportion of UV curable inks in the inkjet market will exceed 10% by 2010, and UV curable inks will continue to occupy a dominant position in the platform inkjet machine
